God loves Uganda is an astonishingly courageous documentary by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Roger Ross Williams. This film takes an intense look at the hate-filled rhetoric that right-winged, Christian Evangelicals are spewing to the vulnerable citizens of Uganda which has become a dumping ground for baseless, homophobic, nonsense.

The documentary was an official selection of the 2013 Dallas International Film Festival.

Using the breathtakingly beautiful Ugandan landscape as the backdrop for this gripping documentary, Williams and his team go directly into the eye of the storm, interviewing the Evangelicals, newly ordained Ugandan “mega-preachers”, and civil rights activists while showing the native’s reluctance to embrace this foreign doctrine.”

New links show how the US Christian right is exporting gay hate to Uganda.

Matt Barber, attorney for Liberty Counsel, a US right wing Christian law firm, listed as an anti-gay group, has been praising anti-gay Ugandan evangelical pastor, Martin Ssempa on Twitter. Ssempa tweeted earlier this week: ‘Homos are paid to spread the vice by hiding it under human rights gibberish! They are $$ by rich European sodomy groups!’

Barber retweeted Ssempa’s anti-gay slur and praised him in a follow-up tweet, saying: ‘Here’s a man not afraid of the international homofascist juggernaut.’ The two continued to promote each other’s anti-gay tweets throughout the week.
